Have I mentioned before how much I enjoy photographing winter weddings? I guess I have, and Helen & Seamus’ Winter Wedding at Garryvoe was no exception. November can tend to be a quiet month and so it’s great to get the opportunity to photograph a wedding during that time. The Garryvoe Hotel, in East Cork, as well as Holy Cross Abbey in Tipperary were the venues for this particular wedding day. So it was certainly something for me to look forward to.
Trekking to Tipp on a rather typical November day that morning. I kicked things off at Horse & Jockey where I meet up with Helen & Seamus and their respective crews. Once Seamus had a drink with his groomsmen in the bar, it was a quick first look for the pair. This is always such a lovely moment. Though not something seen on a regular basis, it’s a lovely moment when it does happen. Satisfied with that part of the day it was off to the Holy Cross Abbey for their ceremony. It’s a stunning venue with a classic abbey dynamic and a great church to photograph. I always enjoy such a stricture. Plenty of room to move around and get a wide breadth of images.
The weather certainly did not dampen any spirits, and there was a good buzz outside post ceremony as the guests mingled a bit before making the journey back to East Cork and Garryvoe. The couple landed soon after. And a quick peek at the room for the pair of them, and their cake of course, and then swiftly out to chat and enjoy a drink a with friends and family during their drink’s reception. I do love the library at Garryvoe, it’s a wonderful room to photograph. Meal, speeches, dancing, fun, laughter… and that was that! These days really fly by. And for me a great pleasure in getting to document them. Enjoy this Winter Wedding at Garryvoe. There’s much to be said and seen about that time of year.
